Frequently Asked Questions

Who can rent the RVs?

  • Renters must be 25 years or older. A valid driver’s license held for at least 2 years is required.


Can there be additional drivers?

  • Yes. We encourage you to list all adults over the age of 25 who will be present in the vehicle as additional drivers, so they are covered by insurance.


Do I need a special license to operate the RV?

  • No. As long as you are 25 years or older, a standard driver’s license is sufficient. The vehicles are easy to handle, and we will spend 1 to 1.5 hours during check-out to ensure you are 100% comfortable operating the vehicle.  We also will offer 24/7 support once your trip starts ( phone support ) 


What is the minimum rental period?

  • The minimum rental period is 3 nights. You may pick up and return the RV in Concord, CA, or—if you live within 35 miles of zip code 94520—you can purchase a delivery/pickup option for $395. Icf you rent for 10 nights or more, complimentary delivery and return within 35 miles of 94520 is included.
    Certain holidays, locations, and promotions may require longer minimum stays. For example, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s require a 7-night minimum.

Do You Offer One-Way Trips?

  • Occasionally. One-way trips are evaluated case-by-case. Please contact us through our website and request a custom quote. Please note that return transportation (including flights, fuel, rental days, and driver costs) must be covered by the renter in addition to the standard rental charges.
     

When Will the RV Be Delivered and Picked Up?

  • A rental day is 24 hours. Typical meeting times are 10 or 11 AM, and the return time must match.
    If you prefer a different time, let us know in advance and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
    If you plan to start early on the first day or return late on the final day, a half-day fee will apply on both ends.
    Delivery is available between 10 AM and 4 PM. The time you choose for delivery will also be your pickup time on the final day.
    Delivery times are subject to availability, and we’ll contact you in advance if any adjustments are necessary.

     

Do You Work with Out-of-State and International Clients?

  • Absolutely! We work with both U.S. and international travelers. We offer three insurance options:

    • Your own auto policy – Add our vehicle to your personal policy (often at no extra cost).  This is the best and cheapest options for US clients. 

    • Outdoorsy insurance – Available when booking through Outdoorsy.  Three different plans apply that you can choose from.

    • MBA Insurance – Excellent coverage options offered directly through us.  MBA offers many different plan and we have found them to be excellent.  

​​International renters must choose option 2 or 3. Please note that all credit card processing fees are the renter’s responsibility. Some international credit cards carry higher transaction fees than domestic ones.
 

What Is the Cancellation Policy?

  • We offer a flexible cancellation policy:

    • ​Full refund if canceled 4 weeks before the start date.

    • Free rescheduling up to 3 weeks prior to the start date.  There are no refunds if cancelling within 2 weeks of your reservation start date.
       

Burning Man Festival Cancellation Policy:

  • Full refund if canceled on or before June 1

  • 50% cancellation fee from June1 to August 1st

  • No refund for cancellations made after August 1st
     

Can I Extend My Rental?

  • Contact us as soon as possible to request an extension. If the RV is already reserved, we cannot extend your booking.
    Late fees apply if you return the RV late.

    • ​$50/hour for late returns (up to 8 hours)

    • Full-day charge for a 24-hour extension

​All balances must be paid before returning the RV.
 

What If I Return the RV More Than One Hour Late?

  • Late returns can disrupt our schedule.  Please note that we do not have a showroom or a office all encounters are by appointment only. Renters returning more than 3 hours late may be charged a penalty of up to $500.
    Traffic or personal delays are not valid excuses. Stay in contact if delays arise—additional fees will apply.

     

Do You Refuse Service to Anyone?

  • We reserve the right to refuse rental service at our discretion to anyone and for any reason that we choose viable.
     

What If We Get Into an Accident?

  • Notify us immediately. Take clear photos of all involved vehicles, property damage, driver’s licenses, and insurance cards and get a police report. Your insurance will cover the damages minus the deductible.
    All damages, even minor ones, must be reported before returning the RV.

     

What If I Accidentally Damage Something?

  • Let us know right away so we can address repairs or order replacement parts.

    • ​Interior Damage Protection covers up to $500

    • Security deposit: $1,995 (used for damages)

    • If damages exceed the deposit, your insurance will be used to cover the rest.
       

What If I Get a Ticket?

  • You are responsible for any tickets or violations.
    Please report all bridge crossings and fees.

    If we have to handle unpaid tolls or fees:

    • ​A $45 admin fee + original toll fee will be charged.
       

Can We Bring Pets?

  • Yes, in designated pet-friendly vehicles.

  • RV must be returned clean and odor-free

  • Security deposit may increase to $2,500
     

How Do I Pay for the Rental?

  • We accept all major credit cards.
    All credit card processing fees are the renter’s responsibility.

     

What Kind of Gas Mileage Will We Get?

  • Our Mercedes Turbo Diesel RVs are very fuel-efficient.
    You can expect 16–20 mpg when driving around 65 mph.

     

What Do I Need to Do Before Returning the RV?

  • Refill diesel tank to the level received

  • Refill liquid propane

  • Empty gray and black water tanks

​Optional services:

  • Tank dump: $95

  • Refueling (diesel/propane): $95 + fuel cost
     

Can I Tow a Car or Boat Behind the RV?

Yes, our RVs can tow up to 4,000 lbs.

  • ​Towing fee: $395 (one-time)

  • Approval is required—send a photo of the towed vehicle

  • ​Towing increases wear and tear and must be pre-approved
     

Are RVs Difficult to Operate?

  • Not at all! You'll receive a 60–90 minute orientation at departure.
    We'll teach you how to operate all appliances and hookups.
    24/7 support is available during your trip.

     

Do You Allow Smoking in the RV?

  • Smoking is strictly prohibited.

    • ​Smoke (tobacco or marijuana) will result in a $1,000 cleaning fee

    • No food or garbage should be left inside

    • For trips over 500 miles:

      • ​$99 interior cleaning fee

      • $99 exterior cleaning fee
        (Burning Man fees are higher)

         

How Many Miles Are Included?

  • 100 free miles per night

  • Additional miles: $0.50 per mile.  You will also receive 2 hours of generator usage per day additional hours are $5 per hour.

  • No refunds for unused miles

  • Mileage terms may vary by promotion
     

Is There a Cleaning and Preparation Fee?

  • Yes. A one-time $195 prep fee applies. This covers:

    • ​Interior and exterior cleaning

    • Fluid and tire checks

    • Vehicle readiness (no warning lights at departure)
       

Can I Take the RV Into the Snow?

  • Yes. Snow chains are available upon request.

    • ​Campgrounds with electric hookups are required if temps drop below 40°F

    • All snow travel must be pre-approved by Live2RV staff
       

Are There Places the RVs Aren’t Allowed?

  • Yes. Our RVs may not be:

    • ​Taken off-road, on beaches, or into sand

    • Driven into Mexico or Canada

    • Taken to Burning Man or Black Rock Desert without written permission
